The House
Nestled at the foot of Monte da Corda and Monte da Pena, in one of the most picturesque valleys in the province of La Coruña (municipality of Monfero), lies the rural village of Casa Do Grilo.
Our village is located in a strategic point, just 25 minutes by car from the city of Betanzos, about 55 kilometres from A Coruña and the same from Santiago de Compostela. Despite this proximity, “Casa do Grilo” has not lost an iota of its essence. In this idyllic setting it is easy to find peace and tranquillity sheltered by the materials that make up these centuries-old houses.
The beginnings of this group of traditional houses date back several centuries, in fact some of the stones that make up the group come from medieval buildings. In addition, in our complex we find typical and traditional buildings from this area of Spain such as a granary, two ovens, a forge, a well… These elements, which have been rigorously restored, give the village an exceptional ethnographic value.
In the rehabilitation of the “Casas do Grilo” a scrupulous process has been followed that has perfectly combined traditional materials and construction methods with current standards of comfort and convenience.
One of our maxims is respect for the environment as well as the use of renewable energy. For this reason, the houses have a supply of solar panels for the production of hot water and geothermal energy for heating. To this we must add the use of natural materials in the rehabilitation, which are another example of our commitment to nature.
We remind you that smoking is strictly prohibited inside the houses.
